Clariant Oil and Mining Services has outgrown its 28,000 square feet of space and is constructing a new building in The Woodlands that more than doubles its size to accommodate future growth. The move adds more fuel to the wave of energy-sector growth and commercial real estate activity north of Houston in the wake of Exxon Mobil Corp.’s decision to build a 385-acre complex near The Woodlands.

The oilfield products and services company, a division of Switzerland-based Clariant, opened its first office in The Woodlands in 2003. Five years later, the company moved its global headquarters from Aberdeen, Scotland, to the space on Research Forest Drive. The new 70,000-square-foot space will be on Technology Forest Boulevard.
